Ingredients

  • - 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into 2-inch strips
  • - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • - 1 ½ cups fresh broccoli florets
  • - 1 red bell pepper, sliced into matchsticks
  • - 2 carrots, julienned
  • - 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • - 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • - 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • - 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced adds a nice zing
  • - 1 tablespoon rice vinegar for brightness
  • - 2 green onions, chopped

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Before jumping into cooking, gather all the ingredients. Chop your beef, vegetables, and herbs, ensuring everything is prepped and ready to go. Having everything organized means a smooth cooking process.
Step 2: Heat the Oil
  1. In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, it’s time to add our star of the dish—beef!
Step 3: Stir-Fry the Beef
  1. Add the beef strips to the hot oil, spreading them out in a single layer. Allow them to sear without stirring for about 1-2 minutes to develop a nice brown crust. Then stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the beef is browned and just cooked through.
Step 4: Mix in the Vegetables
  1. Once the beef is cooked, move it to one side of the wok or skillet. In the cleared space, add the broccoli, bell pepper, carrots, green onion, and minced garlic. Stir-fry the vegetables in the center for about 2 minutes. They should remain vibrant and crisp.
Step 5: Combine Ingredients
  1. Combine the beef back with the vegetables in the wok. Add the soy sauce, toasted sesame seeds, fresh ginger, and rice vinegar. Give everything a good toss to ensure it’s well-coated, cooking for an additional 2 minutes, or until the veggies are tender but still have a bit of crunch.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
  1. Once everything is combined and heated through, transfer your beef stir-fry to a serving bowl. Grab your rice or noodles, and dig in while it’s hot!

Notes

- Cut Against the Grain: This ensures your beef is tender.
- High Heat Is Key: Cooking at high heat helps maintain the crunchiness of the vegetables.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: If your pan is too crowded, the beef will steam instead of sear. Work in batches if necessary.
- Experiment with Veggies: Feel free to add or swap in your favorite veggies like snap peas or mushrooms.
- Marinate for Flavor: If you have the time, marinate your beef for 30 minutes to intensify the flavors.
